How Much Power Does One Woman Have?

Ruth 1:16-17 NLT
"Don't ask me to leave you and turn back. I will go wherever you go and live wherever you live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. I will die where you die and will be buried there. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!"

Woman many times under estimate their worth. We tend to think what we say or do really has no effect on those around us. How have we come to such a negative attitude?

On the news the other night, they ran a short news report about a woman named Rosa Parks. Rosa was a seamstress. One day on the way home from work, she was tired of her job and tired of years of mistreatment, and she refused to give up her seat on a bus simply because of the color of her skin. Rosa was arrested and fingerprinted because what she did was a violation of the city law. This happened in 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama. But the good news is that her actions lead to a Supreme Court ruling that segregatioen in transportation was unconstitutional. Her stand in 1955 made the difference to women all over the world.

The Bible has so many stories much the same:

Remember how Moses' mother protected and raised her son in the ways of God in such a time of danger?

Remember how Deborah's wisdom, leadership and courage stood out during a time of corruption, deceit and weakness that was running strong among God's people?

Remember how Hannah begged God for a child and then gave him back to God to be used?

Remember how Ruth was faithful to her mother-in-law, Naomi? God honored her because of this faithfulness by giving her a son, David. David and her line of descendants go back to the Messiah.

Remember Jehosheba and her act of defiance to hide the last living true heir in the line of David, partnering with God to keep His promises alive?

Remember Martha and Mary, the sisters of Lazarus, and how they played a crucial role in the life and ministry of Jesus?

Remember Mary, the mother of Jesus? She was told the unbelievable and yet offered herself to be fully used of the Lord.

In Jesus' live and ministry, the power of one woman is demonstrated again and again in the Bible. We could list mamy more. But the main point is that they were chosen to remind us of the power that one godly woman has to influene others.

If you are a woman, please remind your friends, daughters, mothers, (yourself) etc., that they play a vital role in this Story of Faith.

Let's never forget the power of one woman to change her world!
